Julián Alejandro Ríos is a litigation associate who joined Ford O’Brien Landy LLP in 2022. Julián mainly focuses on complex commercial and securities litigation within the firm’s general white-collar defense practice. Julián has been recognized in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America 2024 and 2025 for work in securities litigation and white-collar criminal defense. Julián has also been recognized in Super Lawyers® Rising Stars 2024 for work in securities litigation.
While at Ford O’Brien Landy LLP, Julián has worked on teams representing:
- Individuals in a $250 million complex tort action against a publicly traded foreign corporation related to the assumption of assets and liabilities following the acquisition of a now-subsidiary.
- Two foreign investment companies in a $20 million fraudulent transaction dispute against a brokerage firm and its members.
- A former CEO against a now-publicly traded corporation regarding a commercial transaction dispute following the corporation’s IPO.
- A think-tank in connection with a DOJ investigation regarding the Foreign Agent Registration Act.
- An online marketplace company in a breach of contract dispute against a media production company.
- Individuals in a defamation lawsuit against a not-for-profit national hospital conglomerate.
Prior to joining the firm, Julián obtained litigation experience in healthcare fraud as an Associate Counsel with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission Office of Inspector General. Additionally, Julián has experience with complex intellectual property litigation, and completed a fellowship in economic sanctions compliance in Washington, D.C. in 2018.
Julián holds a J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas, where he graduated in the Spring of 2019 and simultaneously received his master’s degree in International Relations, with a Security Policy Concentration, as a Distinguished Graduate with Honors in the Fall of 2018. While at St. Mary’s, Julián served as a research assistant in both law and graduate schools.
Julián received his undergraduate degree in Biology, from St. Edward’s University, where he completed and published his work in combative behaviors observed in the western mosquito fish.
