Melina Westerlind is an Associate in the Austin office who joined Ford O’Brien Landy in 2024. She started as a summer associate and continued working as a law clerk during her last year of law school before joining the firm full time. Melina practices in regulatory investigations, white collar criminal defense, and complex commercial and civil securities litigation.

While at Ford O’Brien Landy LLP, Melina has assisted with the following representations:

  • An individual indicted on federal healthcare fraud and Anti-Kickback Statute charges in the United States District Court, District of New Jersey
  • A state-affiliated college bringing a $15 million insurance claim for damage resulting from a winter storm
  • An individual accused of orchestrating a multi-million-dollar pump and dump scheme in parallel SEC and DOJ proceedings.
  • A company subject to an SEC investigation and a private suit for failure to disclose criminal history

Prior to joining the firm, Melina gained experience working at the Harris County District Attorney’s Office as a legal intern, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality as a legal assistant, and the Arizona Supreme Court as a legislative intern.

Melina holds a J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law in Austin, Texas. Throughout her time in law school, Melina participated in interscholastic mock trial, served on the editorial board for the Texas Environmental Law Journal, and studied at Stockholm University as part of The University of Texas School of Law’s study abroad program.
