Emily Klair Bloom is a litigation associate who mainly focuses on white-collar criminal defense, government & regulatory investigations, and commercial & securities litigation.

Emily Klair worked at the North Hill Country Public Defender’s Office before she joined Ford O’Brien Landy in 2024. She began at the Public Defender’s Office a student attorney during her last semester of law school; during that time, Emily Klair represented juvenile clients in detention hearings, pre-trial hearings and negotiations, and in pleadings. Emily Klair also managed a full caseload of adult criminal defendants charged with misdemeanor offenses and state jail felonies. In May 2023, Emily Klair was the second-chair attorney for a second-degree felony jury trial where she cross-examined witnesses and prepared for the sentencing trial. In November 2022, Emily Klair was the first-chair attorney for post-adjudication hearing in a juvenile case in state district court. During that hearing, she gave an opening statement, proffered legal arguments to the judge, cross examined 6 witnesses, and gave a compelling closing argument for her client. And two months prior to that hearing, in September 2022, Emily Klair was the second-chair attorney for a jury trial on a four-count indictment of first- and second-degree felony charges. During that trial, Emily Klair cross-examined witnesses, prepared the full case-in-chief for sentencing, and worked closely with the client and his family to educate them about the criminal judicial system and its processes.

While in law school, Emily Klair was a student attorney for the Criminal Defense Clinic where she represented individuals in Travis County charged with misdemeanor offenses. She was a student attorney for the Capital Punishment Clinic and interned at the Office of Capital and Forensic Writs, supporting capital defense attorneys in their fight against the death penalty. Emily Klair volunteered her spare time in law school to the Mithoff Pro Bono program at the William Wayne Justice Center, contributing more than 1,000 hours to pro bono projects while a student at the school. One project in particular led to a woman’s release on parole after 14 years of injustice in the state prison.

Before law school, Emily Klair worked as a legislative intern for Texas Senate District 1 during the 86th Legislative Session. She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Tyler.

Outside of work, Emily Klair enjoys reading mysteries, practicing yoga, and spending time with her husband and their 4 dogs.
